Colorado therapist accused of sexually assaulting client may have other victims

Westminster police have arrested a 48-year-old therapist and charged him with sexual assault, according to an agency announcement this week, and officials believe he may have other victims.

Police arrested therapist Trinidad Ruiz and charged him with sexual assault on a client, Westminster Police Department officials announced in a Monday press release. Ruiz was arrested on Jan 3, 2024, at 1162 W. 132nd Place, Westminster police investigator Cheri Spottke said.

Ruiz holds an active “licensed professional counselor candidate” temporary permit issued by state authorities in September 2020, according to Colorado Department of Regulatory Affairs records. No disciplinary or board actions had been taken as of Wednesday, the state records show.

On May 12, 2023, a woman contacted police and said that she had sought “a private, unlicensed, alternative therapist” to help her deal with “previous trauma” and that, during her session, she was sexually assaulted, the police said.

A LinkedIn page identifies Ruiz as the owner of Holistic and Integrative Consulting in Broomfield and as a mental health therapist and psychedelic integration specialist and coach.

There may be other victims, Westminster police said, urging anyone under the care of the suspect who had an inappropriate sexual interaction to contact them at 303-658-4360 (option 2) and refer to case number 2023-08678.
