A Denver distillery is relocating operations to the suburbs, and when it does it will close its taproom and restaurant in the city.
Ironton Distillery & Crafthouse, which opened in the River North Arts District in 2018, will soon break ground on a brand new production facility located at 1303 Empire Rd. in Louisville. According to an announcement Wednesday, the new spot will enable the company to bring its distillery and barrel-aging program under one roof and to provide a new drink-centric destination for locals.
Plans include an expanded tasting room serving house spirits alongside beer, wine and non-alcoholic options, a restaurant turning out scratch-made pub fare, and multiple private event spaces, plus a rooftop deck and outdoor patio where guests can take in views of the foothills. Ironton Distillery & Crafthouse expects to work with sustainability experts to implement green practices in the new space, such as water retention and filtration, heat transfer technology, solar energy and spent water reuse.
Construction on the Louisville facility is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
Having a new space will also facilitate the company’s growth. Ironton Distillery & Crafthouse is preparing to launch distribution imminently in Kansas and California as well as in other markets by the end of this year.
“It’s going to be a busy next few years for the Ironton family,” co-founder Kallyn Romero said in a statement.
Despite uprooting from Denver, Romero added she hopes to maintain a presence there through pop-up events.
“Since our inception, Ironton has prided itself on creating rich, authentic connections to the state of Colorado from our exclusive use of local grains to our support of local artists, non-profits, and community organizations,” Romero said. “We are so thrilled to join the Louisville community and are excited to add another great gathering place for families and residents to foster meaningful connection.”
Until the move, Ironton Distillery & Crafthouse’s location in RiNo at 3636 Chestnut Pl. will remain open.
