A woman stabbed inside a Denver residence died at the scene, and a suspect has been arrested.
The stabbing happened about 11 p.m. Jan. 20 at a Montbello-area home in the 14600 block of East Elk Place, according to the Denver Police Department.
Oliver Baclayon, 29, was arrested on investigation of first-degree murder, police said.
Police received a 911 call about the incident, and the suspect was waiting on the front porch of the Montbello residence when officers arrived, according to an arrest warrant. Baclayon was described as being “cooperative” at the time of his arrest.
On Thursday, the Denver District Attorney’s Office announced that Baclayon has been formally charged with on count of first-degree murder.
The victim was identified on Friday as 61-year-old Elma Giron, according to the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner. Giron died of multiple stab wounds and her death is a homicide.
