Two people died in a crash late Friday night in Commerce City after a vehicle carrying two women and a nine-year-old boy was hit while turning left off Colo. 2 onto East 72nd Avenue.
The crash occurred just before 11:30 p.m. Friday when the vehicle carrying a 38-year-old driver, 56-year-old passenger and nine-year-old passenger was hit while turning left by a vehicle heading south on the highway.
The driver died immediately and the adult passenger died later at the hospital, according to the Commerce City Police Department.
The second passenger, a nine-year-old boy whose mother was the driver, is in critical condition.
The driver of the vehicle that struck them, a 17-year-old boy, is hospitalized with serious injuries.
Police are still investigating the crash and whether speed played a factor, according to the department. No charges have yet been filed in connection with the crash.
