Wind gust speeds reached as high as 81 mph on Monday morning in Colorado, according to the National Weather Service.
As of 12:15 p.m., gusts hit a high of 81 mph in Arvada at around 11 a.m., said warning coordination meteorologist Greg Heavener on a phone call.
Other high wind gust speeds reported around the state include:
79 mph in northwest Greenland,
78 mph in Greenland,
75 mph in Aurora near I-70/Airport Boulevard,
71 mph in Louisville on the U.S. 36 overlook,
69 mph in Sunshine,
67 mph in Coal Creek Canyon,
64 mph in south-southeast Centennial,
63 mph in Denver,
63 mph in Bennett, and
62 mph in Berthoud Pass.
On Monday morning, National Weather Service predicted that winds would reach 75 mph, with gusts leading to the delays and cancellations of more than 700 flights at Denver International Airport. A Red Rocks show scheduled for later this evening was also canceled.
