During a Friday disposition hearing, prosecutors dropped multiple charges of child abuse and assault filed against a Loveland police officer in November, according to court records.
Four charges filed against 53-year-old Wilbert Howard — including one count of felony assault, two counts of misdemeanor child abuse and one count of a crime of violence — were dropped by the 8th Judicial District Attorney’s Office during Friday’s hearing.
Howard was arrested in November after a reported incident at a Fort Collins home, and he pleaded not guilty to all four charges during an April 1 hearing, according to court records.
Police said Howard — who had worked for the department for 17 years — was off-duty at the time and the incident did not have any connection with Howard’s official duties as a police officer.
