Flooding along the Yampa River on Thursday morning forced state authorities to temporarily close a stretch of U.S. 40 between Steamboat Springs and Craig in western Colorado for about six hours.
The rising water levels led to flooding at a bridge near Hayden, Colorado Department of Transportation officials said in a Facebook post.
For safety reasons, a section of U.S. 40 was closed between Craig and Steamboat Springs shortly before 7 a.m. Thursday, CDOT officials said, advising travelers to find other routes.
U.S. 40 in both directions reopened to traffic between Down Hill Drive and Walker Street, CDOT said in 1:09 p.m. tweet.
