United Airlines to add 40 new flights in Denver in time for summer travel season

United Airlines, the largest carrier at Denver International Airport, will offer more than 40 new flights thisĀ  summer, including expanded service to national parks and Canada.

The service is among 100 new flights nationwide that United announced Thursday to cities in the U.S. and Canada.

The airline said in a statement that during the pandemic, demand rose from travelers who wanted to get outdoors and visit mountain towns and national parks. United expects the trend to continue this year.

A daily nonstop flight from Denver will be added to mountain towns, including Vail, Sun Valley Idaho, and the Kalispell/Glacier National Park area in Montana. United will increase service to Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport with five daily nonstop flights, starting in mid-May.

Additional service to Canada will include nonstop, year-round service from Winnipeg, Manitoba, to resume May 23 for the first time since 2020, United said. The airline will also fly bigger planes more often between Edmonton, Alberta, and Denver.

United will offer more than 500 daily departures this summer. More than 100 routes will be on mainline aircraft, the most in more than 20 years, the airline said.

United’s share of the Denver market through November 2023 was 46.8%, according to flydenver.com.

ā€œThe people of Colorado choose to fly United from Denver more than any other airline,ā€ Jonna McGrath, Unitedā€™s vice president of airport operations in Denver, said in a statement. ā€œThanks to our recent $1 billion in infrastructure investments, which include new gates and three new clubs, we are poised to welcome travelers across more than 500 daily departures this summer.”
