Top Workplaces 2024: Elevations helps employees dream big, work hard and make a difference

Elevations Credit Union serves Colorado’s Front Range with over 170,000 members across 10 counties, including Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Denver and Douglas.

In addition to individual consultations, Elevations offers seminars, webinars and online courses on financial subjects.

“We believe informed members make better financial decisions that benefit us all, and financial education should be for all,” said Kathleen Hoxworth, communications and talent strategy vice president.

While economic changes and rising interest rates have challenged the financial services industry, Hoxworth said Elevations has a strong business model designed to weather storms.

“We plan to continue to serve our members as their needs evolve,” she said.

“We are committed to our Big Hairy Audacious Goal of providing unrivaled service to every member, every time. As part of this, we always strive to provide solutions that not only meet but exceed our members’ needs.”

This is the second year Elevations Credit Union has been named one of the Denver Post’s Top Workplaces. Last year, it ranked eighth for best large business.

Elevations wants to provide the best possible workplace for its team members. The company is committed to helping employees dream big, work hard and make a difference.

“We’re very focused on engaging our employees as well, as evidenced by years of engagement survey results above the 90th percentile. We do this through many actions, big and small,” Hoxworth said.

“For example, our president and CEO’s wife, Cindy Agnes, bakes cookies for every single Elevations employee during the winter holidays. When you consider that we have nearly 600 employees, that’s quite a feat.”

Elevations is committed tooffering the flexibility, professional development opportunities and benefits employees crave while maintaining business continuity and providing top-notch service,” Hoxworth said.

“Our people team is always tracking current trends, asking our employees for input and updating our programs and benefits so they are meaningful to our staff.”

This year, the credit union plans to update its mentoring program, launch a new job shadowing program, increase productivity using secure AI capabilities, and investigate creative ways to provide more flexibility to staff.

Elevations also offers full-time employees up to 16 hours of paid volunteer time per year. Employees can support the Elevations Foundation, which has provided nearly $4 million in grants, emergency aid, and scholarships since 2010.

“It’s critical for every business to innovate to stay relevant,” Hoxworth said.

“We know that younger generations prefer online solutions for their financial needs. As a credit union, we need to continue to innovate and provide modern, digital solutions in addition to maintaining our local presence and personalized service.”

Hoxworth said that in addition to its branches, nearly 300 employees work at Elevations’ central support office, affectionately called Basecamp.

“Basecamp employees love the on-site walking trails, 2,680-square-foot gym, and cafe,” she said.
