A winter storm warning in the mountains has caused “thundersnow” — “intense” bursts of snow amid thunderstorms — near Rabbit Ears Pass. People traveling in the area should use caution, according to the National Weather Service.
Travelers can anticipate poor visibility due to blowing snow over mountain passes in the area, the National Weather Service said.
The winter storm warning at Rabbit Ears Pass is in effect until 5 p.m. Thursday afternoon, the National Weather Service said. The Park Range mountains could see 10 to 20 inches of snow through Thursday.
A high wind warning is in effect for the northern and southern Front Range foothills from 5 p.m. through 11 a.m. Thursday. Gusts up to 75 miles per hour are possible, the NWS said.
