Thornton police are investigating the death of a man found fatally shot in an open field.
According to a news release, officers were called at 6:30 a.m. Thursday to a field in the 500 block of E. 168th Avenue for a welfare check where they found an adult man lying on the ground with gunshot wounds. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are investigating the death as a homicide.
The Adams County Coroner’s Office will identify the body and release the information once his next of kin have been notified.
Officers are asking anyone who saw a suspicious vehicle or suspicious activity in that area between 8 p.m. Wednesday and 6:30 a.m. Thursday to call the Thornton Police Tip Line at 720-977-5069.
