Two teenagers were arrested Friday at Thomas Jefferson High School, Denver police said, and the school was put on lockdown for a short time.
The incident happened about 9:30 a.m. when a teen attempted to enroll at the school, 3950 S. Holly St., and it was discovered that the juvenile was “wanted on a significant felony warrant from a neighboring jurisdiction,” according to the Denver Police Department.
The teen “attempted to flee,” police said, but was taken into custody by a school resource officer. A sibling, who was also trying to enroll, tried to intervene and was also arrested, police said.
The school resource officer called for assistance and multiple officers responded to the school.
Denver Public Schools said a lockdown was in place for about 15 minutes.
“There was no threat to students or staff, the lockdown was made out of an abundance of caution,” said Scott Pribble, a DPS spokesman.
