A 14-year-old Monument boy died after apparently colliding with a tree at Keystone Ski Resort on Saturday.
Palmer Ridge High School student Levi Inama died following an accident at the ski resort, according to an email Lewis-Palmer School District 38 officials sent to staff and families on Sunday.
Keystone officials confirmed a 14-year-old from Monument was involved in a “serious incident” on a beginner trail on Dercum Mountain on Saturday.
The boy was transported to Keystone Medical Center after ski patrol responded to the incident, according to a statement from the resort.
The Summit County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday confirmed he died after apparently colliding with a tree on the mountain.
Inama was an engaged, hardworking student who also ran track and played football, Palmer Ridge Principal Adam Frank said in a message to the community.
“Levi will be remembered by our community as a friend, athlete, scholar and wonderful person,” he said.
