A 19-year-old accused of planning to shoot up multiple Colorado Springs schools pleaded guilty to second-degree assault on Monday.
Lily Whitworth was charged with two counts of attempted murder, criminal mischief, menacing, interfering with school operations and second-degree assault in connection with threats made against Colorado Springs Academy District 20 schools, according to the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
Whitworth was arrested on March 31 after an Elbert County sheriff’s deputy responded to her home in the 13900 block of Double Tree Ranch Circle in Elbert. Whitworth’s sister called 911 because Whitworth was “very upset” and had punched holes in the walls, according to previous reporting.
Whitworth had written a “manifesto” that included a list of firearms and how to 3D print them; detailed lists of people to be killed; details on creating improvised explosive devices; and a list of targets including Timberview Middle School, Pine Creek High School and Prairie Hills Elementary School in Colorado Springs.
Whitworth is set to be sentenced on Jan. 19 and faces up to 16 years in prison, according to the district attorney’s office.
