The hottest thing in football right now is actually pop music.
Since singer Taylor Swift first made an appearance at the Kansas City Chiefs game on Sept. 24, her suspected relationship with tight end Travis Kelce has been the most talked about storyline in the NFL. She reappeared in box seats on Oct. 1 with several famous friends such as Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds for Sunday Night Football when the Chiefs took on the New York Jets.
The Swift effect is in full force, sending Kelce jersey sales skyrocketing and attracting more women to the game. Sunday Night Football viewership among girls ages 12 to 17 was up significantly (53%), according to NBC, as was viewership among women ages 18 to 24 (up 24%) and women older than 35 (up 34%).
A Taylor Swift appearance could bolster the Denver Broncos’ so-far lackluster season. Local Broncos fans and Swifties will have two chances to possibly catch her, or at least a glimpse.
That’s because the Broncos play the Chiefs twice in October. The first game is Thursday, Oct. 12 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. TMZ reported Wednesday that Swift will be at the game, citing “sources with direct knowledge” of her plans.
That’s, notably, the same day as the release of “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” movie, which hits theaters on Oct. 12. The movie was originally slated to debut on Oct. 13, but its release was moved up to demand. “Look what you genuinely made me do,” the singer said on Instagram.
The second game is Sunday, Oct. 29 at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver, where Swift just played two sold-out nights in July. Even then, fans were ready for her to be their endgame.
Whether Swift will return to the Mile High City remains a close call. The pop star is currently on a break from her Eras Tour, which resumes with international dates in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on Nov. 9.
If she does make it, our bet is Swift will be sharing the suite with fellow Broncos WAG Ciara. Are you ready for it?
