A student at Lester Arnold High School in Commerce City was arrested after he brought a “very realistic looking airsoft gun” to school Friday morning, Commerce City police said in a news release.
Police were called just before 10 a.m. Friday with information that a student had a gun in their possession, the news release states.
Officers responded and found the student, recovering the gun.
“Although the investigation is ongoing, it does not appear the 16-year-old student threatened to use the gun or brandished it at another person,” according to the news release.
The student is now facing three misdemeanor accounts, unlawfully concealing a weapon, disturbing lawful – educational institutions, and possession of an illegal weapon.
“Real or fake — bring a gun to school and the charges will be VERY real,” a post on X from the Commerce City Police Department stated.
