Lochbuie man sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for child pornography

A Lochbuie man has been sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for production of child pornography.

Steven Patrick McConnell, 32, was also sentenced to 25 years of supervised release following the prison term, according to a U.S. Justice Department news release.

In December of 2021, McConnell engaged in online conversations with an undercover FBI agent about a six-year-old victim, according to the release. McConnell, who entered a plea agreement in the case, said that he sexually assaulted the victim and produced child pornography of the assaults.

The FBI obtained the IP address associated with McConnell and served a warrant at his residence where “devices” containing “child pornography produced by the defendant” were seized. Evidence in the case showed that McConnell “distributed these images to other persons online,” according to Friday’s news release.

“The horrific abuse sustained by the victim in this case can never be undone – that harm is forever,” said U.S. Attorney Cole Finegan.

McConnell was sentenced Wednesday in Denver by U.S. District Court Judge William J. Martinez. The case was investigated by the FBI and the Lochbuie Police Department.
