A plane flying from Longmont to Utah crashed into a Steamboat Springs mobile home park Monday afternoon, killing both people on board and starting a fire that engulfed two homes and other structures, according to police and fire officials.UPDATE: Victims in Steamboat Springs plane crash identified; pilot and passenger killed
A Cessna 421 from Longmont that was headed to Ogden, Utah, crashed into the West Acres mobile home park, 2990 W. Acres Drive, at 4:23 p.m., sparking a fire that quickly spread to two homes and several outbuildings, Steamboat Springs police and fire officials said on Facebook.
The mobile home park is just south of the single-runway Steamboat Springs Airport, which is also known asBob Adams Field.
Two people — the pilot and a passenger — died in the crash, the Steamboat Springs Police Department said in a 9:15 p.m. update Monday. The Routt County Coroner will publicly identify the crash victims.
All mobile home residents have been accounted for, according to the fire department.
Witnesses reported seeing the plane having problems and the cause of the crash is under investigation.
This is the third plane crash in Colorado in less than two weeks.
