Grandview girls basketball star Sienna Betts named Colorado Gatorade Player of the Year

Grandview junior Sienna Betts was named Colorado’s Gatorade Girls Basketball Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, it was announced Thursday morning.

The 6-foot-4 forward won the award after averaging 22.5 points, 15.6 rebounds, 4.6 assists, 3.3 blocks and 2.2 steals for the Wolves, who reached the Class 6A Sweet 16 after winning back-to-back titles her freshman and sophomore years.

Betts carries a 4.33 grade-point average, volunteers for the Special Olympics and Ronald McDonald House, and assists at youth basketball camps. She is verbally committed to play for UCLA on scholarship as the Class of 2025’s No. 3 overall recruit in the nation, according to both Prospects Nation and ESPN HoopGurlz.

Betts joins her sister, Lauren, who currently plays for UCLA, as a two-time Gatorade Player of the Year award winner.

“Sienna is the most physically dominant post player in her class,” Kevin Lynch, Senior National Talent Evaluator for the Blue Star Report, said in a news release announcing the honor. “Her improvement curve has been impressive and she is not afraid to bang. Her efficiency and her relentless rebounding really set her apart in Colorado.”
