The Colorado Avalanche is bringing back young forward Shane Bowers for the 2022-23 season, announcing a one-year deal with the Boston University product Wednesday night.
Picked up in a trade with the Ottawa Senators in 2017, the 23-year-old has spent the past three-plus seasons with the Colorado Eagles in the AHL, accumulating 45 points (23 goals, 22 assists) in 117 games. Most recently, he had nine points over 37 games during the 2021-22 season — a campaign marred by an injury that cost him most of the first half of the season.
During his time at BU, Bowers tallied 53 points (28 goals, 25 assists) in 77 games between 2017-19. The Halifax, Nova Scotia, native also played for Canada in the 2019 IIHF World Junior Championship, notching a pair of assists in five games.
