Rockies spring training report: Ryan Feltner shelled by Royals

On the mound: Right-hander Ryan Feltner, the presumptive fifth starter, got hit hard by the Royals. The big blow was a three-run homer by Franmil Reyes in the fifth. Feltner gave up eight runs (all earned) on eight hits over 4 2/3 innings. He walked two and fanned two. Feltner’s spring ERA is 10.50. … Right-hander Pierce Johnson, the reliever from Arvada’s Faith Christian High School, continued his solid spring, pitching a clean seventh and striking out three. He has a 3.18 ERA.

At the plate: Rookie shortstop Ezequiel Tovar led off and hit 2-for-3, boosting his average to .265. … Zac Veen started in left field, hit 2-for-3 and stole his eighth base of the Cactus League season.
