The reward for information leading to the arrest of a hit-and-run driver who killed an Aurora man, and two dogs he was walking, is $10,000, police said.
On Friday Jason Lyman, 41, was hit and killed at about 2:30 a.m. near the intersection of South Reservoir Road and East Mansfield Avenue.
Lyman is survived by his wife, Karena Lyman, and three children, according to a GoFundMe page. The GFM page is raising funds to help the surviving family.
High school sweethearts, the couple had known each other since they were age 15, the page said. They’ve been married for 21 years. Jason Lyman was described as the “bread winner” of the family.
Karena “is now trying to process this awful tragedy without her best friend and husband,” said the page organized by Rachelle Carney on behalf of Karena Lyman. As of Tuesday night, the page had raised $71,358 out of a goal of $250,000.
The driver of a Toyota Sequoia involved in the crash fled the scene on foot. Police are seeking the driver.
Police on Tuesday urged anyone with information on the incident, or the driver, to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. Police also ask residents in the area of the crash to review exterior camera footage between 2:20 and 3:30 a.m. on Friday for frames of the vehicle or a person walking through the area. “Even the smallest detail may be able to assist investigators with identifying and locating the suspect,” police said.
