A Windsor Police shooting was under investigation Monday after officers exchanged gunfire with a suspect at a hotel while responding to reports of an armed person.
A suspect was taken into custody and no injuries were reported, according to a news release from Windsor Police Department Commander Richard Zeigler.
An Eighth Judicial District team, led by Loveland Police Department officers, has been tasked with investigating the shooting.
Around 4:21 p.m. Sunday, a Weld County dispatcher sent police to the AmericInn, 7645 Westgate Drive, in Windsor. A Windsor Severance Fire Rescue crew also went to the hotel, responding to a fire alarm.
When police tried to contact the suspect, shots were fired, Zeigler said.
Police from other agencies also went to the scene. The suspect — who was not identified Monday morning — was taken into custody and the area where the shooting occurred was closed off for the investigation.
