Englewood police shot an individual who officials say drove a car at officers before crashing into two other vehicles in Littleton during an investigation Monday, according to a news release from the Englewood Police Department.
Around 11 a.m. Monday, officers were investigating a suspicious incident report involving a male and female at 3325 South Santa Fe Drive in Englewood, according to the news release. The driver, who officers suspected was involved in the alleged incident, drove directly at officers when they tried to make contact, police say.
Officers shot at the driver and pursued the vehicle when it allegedly fled on South Santa Fe Drive. The vehicle drove southbound in northbound lanes before crashing into two vehicles in Littleton at West Mineral Avenue, according to the release. The crash led to road closures on West Mineral Road and two people involved in the crash were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, police say.
Police did not initially disclose whether they shot the driver, but in an update Monday afternoon said the driver was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound.
The driver has since been released from the hospital and will be taken to the Arapahoe County Detention Facility, according to officials. The female was arrested at the scene and will also be taken to the Arapahoe County Detention Facility on unrelated charges, police say.
The 18th Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team is investigating the shooting.
