The Denver Office of the Clerk and Recorder revived a Valentine’s Day tradition this year: the Denver Marriage Marathon.

This was the first celebration of the event since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic; the festivities had been an annual tradition in the office since 2008. Due to the need for physical distancing and an emphasis on remote work the office skipped the marital celebrations in 2021 and 2022.

Denver Clerk and Recorder Paul Lopez, council members Candi CdeBaca and Paul Kashmann, former Denver District Court Judge Raymond Satter and local drag performer Jessica L’Whor were all officiants that helped unite couples. The ceremonies were held on the front steps of the City and County Building in downtown Denver.
