Students at Adams City High School held a walkout against gun violence on Tuesday.
Freshman Aliyah Acevedo, who organized the event with approval from the school, said she wanted to show support for East High School as well as her fellow students who have experienced their own incidents of gun violence. Addressing a gathering of students and educators inside the gym before the walkout, she said, “You guys shouldn’t be scared that you’re going to go to school and not going to come home. You shouldn’t have to read the obituaries of your classmates. You deserve to graduate, to go to college, to finish your studies.
“We want to learn. We want to live,” Acevedo added,
