A pedestrian was killed in a crash near East Sixth Avenue and Kenton Street just after 6 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Aurora Police Department.

The crash occurred when the driver of a silver Chevrolet pickup truck was headed eastbound on East Sixth Avenue east of Kenton Street and struck a 28-year-old Aurora man crossing the street, spokesperson Joe Moylan said.

The man was walking from north to south across Sixth Avenue in the middle of the block, Moylan said. His identity will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office. The driver remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.

Westbound East Sixth Avenue was closed for the crash investigation for about two hours and reopened at 8:15 p.m., according to the department.
