A pedestrian struck by a driver in a Saturday night crash died in the hospital, marking Aurora’s first traffic death of 2024, police announced Sunday.
The pedestrian, an unidentified adult man, was crossing Montview Boulevard at Elmira Street when the driver of a sedan headed eastbound down Montview collided with him, according to a social media post from the Aurora Police Department.
The man was sent to the hospital where he later died from his injuries, according to the post.
Montview Boulevard and Elmira Street were closed in all direction for more than two hours Saturday night as police investigated the crash, reopening just before 9 p.m., according to the Aurora Police Department.
The driver stayed on scene and is cooperating with police, according to the post. The pedestrian’s identity will be released by the Adams County Coroner’s Office.
