Some PBS 12 viewers were in the dark Friday. PBS 12 Colorado Public Television viewers who use cable to watch the channel can watch its programs, but others were out of luck.
“Due to a problem with our transmitter, our signal is temporarily not available to our over-the-air or satellite dish viewers (those who watch via Comcast are unaffected),” PBS 12 said on its website.
PBS12 broadcasts its four digital channels from its main transmitter site on Mestaa’ėhehe Mountain, southwest of Evergreen, to the Denver area; the northern Front Range including Longmont, Greeley and Fort Collins; and eastern and northeastern Colorado.
The station, on its website, doesn’t say when the current signal outage will be corrected, but in the meantime, viewers can livestream PBS12.1 on PBS12.org/livestream or watch programs on-demand at video.PBS12.org.
Paul Crook of Lafayette has been watching the station on television since it came on in the air in 1980. He uses “indoor rabbit ears” to home in on the broadcast signal. Crook, a daily viewer who typically watches news programs on the station, first noticed it was down Wednesday evening. He sent an email to the station Friday morning.
“I’ve not heard anything back,” Crook said.
“Thanks for your patience – our engineers are working to correct the problem!” the station says.
