The PBR Bull Riding Finals took place in the coliseum at the National Western Stock Show in Denver, Colorado on January 10, 2024.
Thirty bull riders from across the nation, Canada and as far away as Brazil and Australia took part in the Denver Chute-Out finals. The Denver Chute Out, Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour, features top bull riders squaring off against the rankest bucking bulls in North America. Bull riders face off against their 2,000-pound, animal-athlete opponents.
Riders are judged for their ability to hang on for 8 seconds. The bulls are also judged in the scoring for each rider. The event also featured bullfighters that help protect riders from the bull once they are off the animal, Barrelman Matt Merritt and a team penning event where groups of three riders on horseback corralled chosen steer into pens in a certain amount of time. The fastest time won the group $30,000.
Bull rider Cort McFadden of Novice, Texas won the event and walked away with a prize purse of over $20,984.97.
