Memorial for former U.S. Rep. Pat Schroeder to be held in Denver

A public celebration of life for former U.S. Rep. Pat Schroeder will be held in Denver on Friday with Gov. Jared Polis opening the ceremony.

The event will begin at 2 p.m. at History Colorado, 1200 Broadway. The celebration is open to the public and no RSVP is needed.

Schroeder’s husband, Jim, will speak and a video collection of highlights from her media interviews will be shown.

For 24 years, Schroeder represented Colorado’s First Congressional District, where she fought for the rights of women and families. She also was known for her quick wit, often zinging barbs at her critics to the delight of her supporters.

Schroeder died in Florida on March 13 after suffering a stroke. She was 82.
