Popular Denver Szechuan restaurant may close in August

Noodles Express’ time might be running out.

The restaurant opened at 703 S. Colorado Blvd. in 2020, quickly garnering a cult following for its authentic Szechuan menu of dan dan noodles, twice-cooked fish and spicy eggplant.

But with its lease quickly coming to an end, its future is uncertain.

“As of today, our contract ends at the end of August,” a sign in the restaurant reads. “The landlord has not offered any kind of extension yet. We will inform our valuable customers as soon as the status changes. Thank you so much for your understanding and support.”

The restaurant’s owners didn’t return a message seeking comment.

According to property records, Dillon Companies Inc., a subsidiary of Kroger, owns the property in the Belcaro Shopping Center, which Noodles Express shares with Osaka Sushi.

King Soopers, a division of Cincinnati-based Kroger, anchors the shopping center. But it’s been previously reported that the grocer has plans to relocate to a new location a mile south at 4201 E. Arkansas Ave., the former headquarters of the Colorado Department of Transportation.

And in February last year, Denver-based Kentro Group submitted redevelopment plans for the 6.4-acre site, including two large three-story residential buildings and a retail component.
