NFL star and former Broncos player Von Miller turned himself in to police in Glenn Heights, Texas, on Thursday after he allegedly assaulted a pregnant woman in Dallas.
Miller turned himself in to the Glenn Heights Police Department on a Dallas County Sheriff’s Office arrest warrant and was booked into the Tri-City Regional Jail in DeSoto, Texas, according to a department spokesperson who declined to give their name.
Miller is not currently listed as an inmate at the jail.
Dallas police officers responded to the 3100 block of North Harwood Street in Dallas about 11 a.m. Wednesday to a “major disturbance call,” where they found the 34-year-old Buffalo Bills linebacker allegedly got into a verbal argument with the woman before assaulting her, Dallas police spokesperson Brian Martinez said in an email.
Miller and the woman, who were living together, got into an argument in the main bedroom because the woman did not want to travel on her birthday, according to a police report.
The woman left the room and went into the office, slamming a door, which made Miller “visibly angry,” according to the report. He then entered the office and started yelling at her to get out.
The woman tried to gather her things, including her laptop and cell phone, but Miller allegedly began pushing and shoving her while telling her to leave. She repeatedly yelled at him to stop because she was pregnant.
The woman fell into a chair, where Miller put a hand on her neck and held it for 3 to 5 seconds. He then threw her laptop on the floor and stomped on it, pulled out a chunk of her hair and threw her on the couch, where he put both hands around her neck, according to the report.
The woman reported being in pain but not having trouble breathing when Miller put his hands around her neck.
The woman told police she recorded some of the attack and when she threatened to call police, Miller left.
The woman was treated for minor injuries but was not taken to a hospital, according to Dallas police.
The woman told police she was six weeks pregnant, and investigators observed bruises on her neck, arm and stomach, according to the police report.
Miller was arrested on suspicion of assault of a pregnant person, which is a third-degree felony under Texas law.
The Bills issued a statement on the investigation on X, saying, “This morning, we were made aware of an incident involving Von Miller. We are in the process of gathering more information and will have no further comment at this point.”
The NFL also posted on X that it is aware of the situation.
In March 2021, the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office declined to file criminal charges against Miller based on a Parker Police Department investigation.
