Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi will visit Boulder’s National Center for Atmospheric Research on Wednesday to promote the Inflation Reduction Act, according to a news release from the office of U.S. Rep. Joe Neguse, D-Lafayette.

Pelosi, Neguse and leaders from NCAR, the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research and the National Science Foundation are set to discuss the impacts that the Inflation Reduction Act will have on scientific research across the country, the news release said.

The Inflation Reduction Act, a landmark bill passed earlier in the month, includes what Democrats are calling the most substantial investment in history to combat climate change, committing about $375 billion over a decade toward initiatives like clean energy production, scientific research and wildfire response.

Relevant to Colorado, the news release said the act will put $5 billion toward forest and reforestation investments and wildfire mitigation programs, $4 billion toward combatting drought in the West and $2 billion toward federal labs throughout the nation.

The news release said the discussion at NCAR would be among a series of events Pelosi will attend.
