A motorcyclist died Wednesday after his bike veered off the road and struck a fence in Fort Collins, police said.
Fort Collins officers responded to reports of a crash in the 1000 block of East Drake Road around 7:26 p.m. Wednesday, according to a news release from the police department.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a single vehicle crash and a motorcycle rider with life threatening injuries, the release stated. Paramedics took immediate medical action and transported the man to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Fort Collins Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction and Scene Handling Team took over the investigation and determined that the motorcyclist — driving a 2007 Yamaha — was headed westbound in the 1000 block of East Drake Road when he left the roadway and struck a fence on the north side of the road.
The crash shut down East Drake Road between Lemay Avenue and Stover Street for more than four hours during Wednesday’s investigation, police said.
Investigators have not determined what caused the crash, and are asking anyone with information about this collision or who may have had dashcam footage of the incident to contact the team at 970-416-2229.
