Larimer County law enforcement suspended the search for a 64-year-old Greeley man last seen Sept. 19 whose vehicle was found at a trailhead north of Estes Park.
Michael Powers’ vehicle was found unoccupied Thursday at the Dunraven Trailhead, which is approximately 10 miles north of Estes Park between Drake and Glen Haven in Larimer County.
Larimer County law enforcement and search and rescue crews, along with searchers from Rocky Mountain National Park, covered every trail between the Dunraven area and the national park in their search, according an update from the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office.
Search crews checked all ridges and drainages within a two-mile stretch, and drone operators also searched from the air Thursday and Friday.
“Search crews spoke to all hikers they encountered in an effort to gain any additional info about where Powers may have gone,” Larimer County officials wrote in an update. “Despite the extensive effort, investigators found no indication of his location or intended path.”
Investigators initially reported Powers may have been experiencing a crisis when he went missing. Foul play is not suspected and investigators do not believe the case poses any danger to the public, the sheriff’s office wrote in an update.
Anyone who saw Powers or may have information about his direction of travel can contact Investigator Justin Atwood at 970-498-5143.
