93-year-old missing Berthoud man is found safe in Winter Park

A missing 93-year-old Berthoud man, identified Wednesday by Larimer County authorities as endangered, was found safe Thursday in Winter Park.

Larimer County Sheriff deputies appealing for public help via postings on Twitter said Grant Steffen was seen around 6 a.m. at the Phillips 66 gas station, 3500 S. Federal Blvd.

About 2:40 p.m. Thursday, Steffen was spotted along the I-70 mountain corridor, westbound out of Georgetown, according to authorities.

At 7:40 p.m. the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office announced that Steffen was found and that he is safe.

“He was contacted in the Winter Park area by local law enforcement,” the sheriff’s office said on Twitter. “He was disoriented but had no apparent injuries.”

Steffen failed to return home Wednesday after a trip to the Loveland Public Library, according to the sheriff’s office. He was driving a light blue 2007 Toyota Matrix sedan Colorado license plate 902 PEU. The car was seen about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday on Berthoud Parkway at County Road 24.

Grant will be assessed by medical team and reunited with family.
