A man was injured Tuesday night after a Mesa County deputy shot him while attempting to arrest him on a felony warrant.
Deputies were trying to arrest the man at 2842 North Ave., which is the address of a fast food restaurant, when the shooting happened about 7:50 p.m. Tuesday, the Grand Junction Police Department said in a news release.
The man was transported to a hospital with “non-life-threatening injuries,” police said, and no officers were injured.
North Avenue was closed in the area for several hours, police said on Twitter.
The deputy involved is on administrative leave pending the investigation by the 21st Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team.
