Human remains found in Clear Creek County have been identified as those of a woman who went missing earlier this year.
On Feb. 13, 38-year-old Melinda Tafoya-Deltoro called the Clear Creek County 911 Center from the Miner’s Candle area reporting that she was stranded in snow, according to a sheriff’s office news release. Deputies responded and found a vehicle, but not Tafoya-Deltoro.
A search of the area at the time of her disappearance and in the following months turned up no signs of the missing woman, the release said. As mountain snow melted, teams continued to search the Miner’s Candle area, and human remains were found on June 4.
The Clear Creek County Coroner’s Office has identified the remains as those of Tafoya-Deltoro. The cause and manner of her death remain under investigation.
