A man has been killed after being shot by Pueblo County deputies in Colorado City late Wednesday night, the Pueblo County sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
Deputies were responding to a burglary call at a home on Santa Fe Drive in Colorado City about 11:45 p.m. when they came upon an armed man.
“Shots were fired,” the news release states, and the man was injured and taken to a local hospital where he died. He has not been identified yet.
No deputies were injured in the shooting.
The news release states the involved deputies will not be identified right now.
The 10th Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team has been activated to investigate the shooting.
The CIRT includes members of the Pueblo Police Department, the Colorado State Patrol, the Pueblo County
District Attorney’s Office, the Colorado Bureau of Investigations and the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office.
There is no further threat to the community, according to the news release.
