A man was killed and a boy was injured in a double shooting near Kipling Street and West Colfax Avenue on Tuesday, according to the Lakewood Police Department.
Lakewood police reported the shooting in the 1600 block of Kipling Street in a 7 p.m. post on X.
Police later announced that a man, identified in a Thursday update as 24-year-old Francisco Martinez from Edgewater, had died and a 17-year-old boy was hospitalized. Police did not release further information about the boy’s identity or injuries.
The double shooting was one of five similar incidents in the Denver metro in the previous 24 hours.
One man died after a shooting in Denver’s Five Points neighborhood Tuesday afternoon, according to posts by the Denver Police Department on X. Investigators are still determining whether the fatal shooting, which was in the 500 block of Park Avenue West, was a homicide, spokesperson Jay Casillas said in an email.
Denver Police Department reported another shooting at 9:44 p.m. Tuesday on X. The shooting was in the area of 29th Avenue and Gilpin Street. According to a 10:10 a.m. Wednesday update on X, three victims were found. Two went to the hospital themselves and one was taken by an ambulance. All of them are expected to survive and the investigation is ongoing.
At 10:40 p.m. Tuesday, Denver Police Department reported a shooting in the 800 block of South Oneida. One victim was taken to the hospital. According to a 10:12 a.m. Wednesday update on X, the victim is expected to survive and the investigation is active.
Aurora Police Department reported a shooting in the 1400 block of Clinton Street in a 4:36 a.m. Wednesday post on X. The victim, an adult male, took himself to the hospital. He has serious injuries but is expected to survive. Police believe the suspect and victim know each other, but no arrests have been made.
