Aurora police officers Tuesday evening found a 46-year-old man dead in an apartment with a gunshot wound.

Officers about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday responded to a welfare check at an apartment in the 12600 block of East Pacific Circle in southwest Aurora, where they found the door open and lights on, according to a police department post on X.

The officers then found the man inside while doing a safety check.

The preliminary investigation indicates the homicide was not random. Investigators are searching for witnesses, and no suspect information is available at this time.
