A man accused of hitting four pedestrians on a sidewalk in downtown Denver and leaving the scene earlier this month was arrested Monday.
The Denver Police Department wrote in a news release that the man hit the pedestrians on Jan. 7 around 11:40 p.m. near 18th and Wazee streets following a verbal altercation.
According to the release, detectives found the vehicle that hit the pedestrians and determined that Orlando Martinez Jr., 22, was driving it at the time and that he had intentionally hit the pedestrians.
Martinez was arrested Monday and is being held on four counts of investigation of attempted murder, two counts of first-degree assault-serious bodily injury, and two counts of second-degree assault, the release stated.
Two pedestrians were seriously injured, and the other two had minor injuries.
According to the news release, the Denver District Attorneys’ office will make the final call on the charges.
