Costco to open Longmont warehouse May 4

Costco is scheduled to open its warehouse in Longmont on May 4, the company has announced.

Located at 205 E. Ken Pratt Blvd., the 152,000-square-foot warehouse will include a bakery, a deli, fresh meat and produce sections, an optical department with an independent doctor of optometry, a pharmacy, a tire center, a hearing aid center, a food court and a beer and wine selection, the announcement said.

The warehouse will be open from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday; 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. However, Costco’s warehouse in Longmont will open at 8 a.m. on Thursday, May 4 for opening day only.

Costco’s gas station in Longmont has already opened.

The fueling area’s hours of operation are from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

“We are thrilled to be bringing Costco’s low warehouse prices to the residents of Longmont,” Warehouse Manager Jeff Scheidemantle said in the announcement. “They have been asking us to open here for a long time, and we already have made an impact on the local job market. We look forward to contributing to the community in many ways.”

Costco’s Longmont location, the company’s 15th warehouse in Colorado, is expected to have 220 employees.

The wholesale company has 121 million cardholders worldwide, according to the announcement.

Gold star memberships are available for $60 a year and executive gold star memberships for $120 annually. Interested customers may sign up for a new membership online.

The city projects that Costco will generate just over $4 million annually in sales tax revenue and that this will increase by 2% annually.

“Once it opens and we get a real sense of the sales activity, we will update that for planning the 2024 budget,” Jim Golden, Longmont chief financial officer, said in an email Thursday.
