A physical education teacher at Summit Middle School, in Frisco, has been arrested on multiple counts of sexual assault on a child, according to the sheriff’s office.
Leonard Alan Grams, 61, allegedly “engaged in unlawful sexual contact with the victims during class activities,” according to a news release.
Grams is being investigated for five felony counts of sex assault on a child and three felony counts of sex assault on a child by a person in a position of trust. He was arrested on Tuesday without incident.
On Oct. 27, 2021, the sheriff’s office received information from the Summit School District on allegations of sexual misconduct involving Grams and female students. School district officials received reports of alleged sexual misconduct which ranged from Sept. 30, 2021, through Oct. 24, 2021.
“During the sheriff’s investigation, search warrants were served on the school district uncovering and securing hundreds of pages of documents and interviews acquired from the initial investigation conducted by school district officials,” the release said.
In addition, detectives conducted further interviews with the victims, parents of the victims, possible witnesses, school district officials, the suspect, and others related to this investigation.
“This case is heartbreaking. I am humbled by the bravery of these young victims to come forward,” said Sheriff Jaime FitzSimons, in the release. “I am also proud of the Detectives investigating this case. The quality of their work, coupled with their compassion and empathy not just for the victims, but also their families, exemplifies the mission statement of the Summit County Sherriff’s Office.”
An investigation is ongoing.
