The Canadian game studio Hibernum Creations has laid off the majority of its staff, over 100 employees, as the mobile game developer begins the process of selling off its assets.
Hibernum confirmed the layoffs to GamesIndustry.biz earlier today, stating that “the company is currently going through a transitional period where it has begun to sell its assets to various potential partners.”
“Our hearts go out to all our dedicated employees and their families during this transitional phase. Key personnel that remain will make all efforts to keep as many projects alive and as many personnel employed as we find permanent homes for our existing projects.”
Hibernum Creations set up shop in 2004 has since created a number of games for both mobile and console, including Beauty and the Beast: Perfect Match, Magic: The Gathering – Puzzle Quest, and Fruit Ninja Kinect 2.
In addition to its own projects, Hibernum has also provided additional development services for games like Insomniac Games’ Song of the Deep and Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood.
