A 20-year-old man was arrested Tuesday in connection with a fatal shooting near the Lakewood-Wadsworth Regional Transportation District station as police seek a second suspect.
Lakewood police responded to the area of West 13th Avenue and Yukon Street just before noon on Sept. 30 on reports of a shooting.
Officers found Anthony Ortiz with multiple gunshot wounds and transported him to St. Anthony Hospital, where he later died from his injuries, according to the Lakewood Police Department.
Officers later contacted Nathan Ortega, 20, at a local hospital and confirmed he was shot during the incident. He was treated for his injuries and booked into the Jefferson County Jail on Tuesday on suspicion of first-degree murder and aggravated robbery.
Witnesses also reported seeing a Hispanic male in his 20s who fled the scene in a gold Saturn.
