A trio of masked suspects shot and killed a man inside his vehicle at a car wash in Lakewood early Sunday morning, police said.
Police found Ramon Castro Contreras, 27, dead in the driver’s side of his car after officers responded to reports of a shooting in the area of West Colfax Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard around 12:14 a.m. Sunday.
Surveillance video shows three masked suspects and a vehicle pull up to Contreras’ vehicle in a car wash bay at 1433 Sheridan Blvd., police said in a news release.
The video shows the suspects shoot Contreras as he attempts to drive away, police said.
Prior to the shooting, the three suspects, while on foot, appeared to attempt to rob several people near the bus stop at Sheridan and Colfax, police said.
Denver police recovered a vehicle that may have been associated with the Lakewood shooting around 6:30 p.m. Monday. Several people in the vehicle were arrested on unrelated warrants, Lakewood police said, and investigators haven’t confirmed whether they were involved in the fatal shooting Sunday.
