A 43-year-old woman who was found alive in Wheat Ridge on Wednesday morning after being kidnapped Tuesday evening suffered no major injuries and is recovering at home, authorities said.
The woman, an Aurora resident, “was pulled into a vehicle against her will” and taken to the home of an ex-boyfriend’s relative in Wheat Ridge, Arapahoe County Sheriff’s spokesperson Ginger Delgado said. She was taken to a hospital for treatment.
“Her only injuries were from that initial assault when she was pulled into the car. There were no injuries after that,” Delgado said.
West Metro SWAT officers arrested Lance Foster as a suspect in connection to the kidnapping. He was injured and hospitalized and soon will be transferred to the Arapahoe County Detention Facility, Delgado said.
Foster is suspected of stalking the woman and kidnapping her around 5:47 p.m. Tuesday, authorities said. A Colorado Bureau of Investigation bulletin said Foster, 43, apparently forced the woman into a black 2008 Lincoln vehicle. He faces felony charges of kidnapping and of robbery, authorities said. The robbery charge stems from the woman telling police Foster took her cellphone away from her.
About 10 p.m. Tuesday, investigators received information the pair were at an apartment in the 10200 block of West 44th Avenue in Wheat Ridge, a residence connected to a relative of Foster.
Foster’s vehicle was found in the area and police contacted Foster, who agreed to release the victim. She was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
A standoff ensued and a woman, a grandmother, was safely evacuated through a bedroom window, according to police. Foster was taken into custody about 6:40 a.m. and then taken to a hospital as a precaution measure. He’ll be held at the Arapahoe County Jail.
