Man charged with murder, child abuse in Aurora shooting

Updated 2:54 p.m. Feb. 15, 2024: Kelynn Lewis was charged with first-degree murder, first-degree attempted murder and four counts of child abuse in Adams County District Court, the District Attorney’s Office announced Thursday.

Lewis is set to appear in court on March 6.

The Adams County Coroner’s Office has not yet identified the woman who was killed.


Aurora police arrested a man Sunday in connection to the fatal Friday shooting of a woman near the University of Colorado Hospital.

Officers about 8 p.m. Friday responded to a call of a shooting in the 1700 block of Paris Street, where they found a woman inside a house with a gunshot wound, according to a news release.

The woman died at the scene.

Aurora police’s Major Crime Homicide Unit determined Kelynn Lewis, 32, as a suspect in the shooting and arrested him Sunday morning on suspicion of first-degree murder, according to the news release.
